Saksham Scholarship Scheme 2024-25 For Disabled Students

The Saksham Scholarship Scheme is a special program created by the MHRD and implemented by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). This scholarship is designed to support students with disabilities in India who want to pursue higher education in technical fields.

It provides financial assistance to help them achieve their educational goals without worrying about money. Through this scholarship program, each spacially-abled student will get up to 50,000/- rupees per year until the completion of the degree program.

Students who have been admitted in 1st year or 2nd year (through lateral entry) in a degree/diploma program in any AICTE-approved institution will be eligible for this scholarship. Each year, around 1000 scholarships are given to students pursuing technical degrees and diplomas.

What is the Saksham Scholarship Scheme?

The Saksham Scholarship Scheme is specifically aimed at helping students with disabilities who are enrolled in technical degree or diploma programs at AICTE-approved institutions. The scholarship was initiated by the AICTE department with the great aim of helping those meritorious but disabled students.

This scholarship targets students with a disability of 40% or more will be eligible for this scholarship.

Students must satisfy the given eligibility criteria before applying for this scholarship. Candidates can apply for this scholarship through the official website of National Scholarship portal before reaching the last date 31st October 2024.

Eligibility Criteria for the Saksham Scholarship Scheme

To be eligible for the Saksham Scholarship Scheme 2024-25, students must meet the following conditions:

1. Students must be permanent citizens of India.
2. The student must have a disability of 40% or more, certified by a government medical authority.
3. The student must be enrolled in the first year of a technical degree or diploma course at an AICTE-approved institution in the academic year 2024-25.
4. The total family income from all sources must not be more than INR 8 lakh per year.
5. The student must have passed Class 12 or Class 10 (for diploma courses).

Now the most important question is how much scholarship will I receive through this scholarship? So, each year students will get around 50,000/- rupees as tuition fees. This scholarship will be continued till the completion of the degree/diploma program.

With this scholarship students can pay their college fees, can buy various educational items like books, stationary items, software, etc. Each year some additional grants will also be provided to students.

How to Apply for the Saksham Scholarship

The application process for the Saksham Scholarship Scheme 2024-25 is simple and can be done online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Here are the steps to apply:

If You have already registered into the NSP portal you can directly start filling out the online application form by logging into their official website. However new users must complete the online registration process before start filling the application. Let’s discuss each step one by one:

Online registration process

• First, visit the official website of NSP.
• Click on the left bar icon, and a new popup will open click on the One Time Registration (OTR).

• The login page will open. C
• Click on the Register Now Button.
• The registration form will open.
• Read the essential guidelines carefully, then scroll down and tick the two checkboxes.

• A new form will open where you have to enter your mobile number and click on Get OTP.
• Enter the OTP you received into your mobile.
• Fill the captcha and click on the Submit button.
• Then the eKYC page will open.
• Enter your Aadhar card number then click GET OTP.

• Enter the OTP and click on verify.
• You will be redirected to the personal details section where you have to enter your:
  • Name
  • Gender
  • DOB
  • fathers name
  • mothers name
  • Valid Email ID
• Then click on the Finish button.

• After the successful registration process, you will get a temporary Registration number

Login and complete the application

• Login into your account using the OTR number and password.
• Your account dashboard will open.
• Go to the Apply online section and choose the Saksham scholarship portal link.
• The application form will open.
• Enter all your details carefully.
• Upload all the necessary details carefully.
• Preview your application one or two times.
• If all the details are correct then click on the final submit button.

• Disability Certificate: Issued by a certified medical authority.
• Income Certificate: To prove that your family income is below INR 8 lakh per year.
