The Ishan Uday Scholarship 2024-25 is a significant initiative launched by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the Government of India. It was first introduced in the year 2014-15 to promote higher education among students from the North Eastern Region (NER), which includes Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
This scholarship aims to financially support students who face challenges in accessing higher education due to financial constraints. The scholarship encourages students to pursue undergraduate courses and enhance their educational qualifications. Each year almost 10,000 students get the benefits of the scholarship.
The students pursuing general degree courses will receive around ₹5,400 per month, and for technical degree courses (technical/medical/professional/paramedical courses) will get almost ₹7,800 per month.
Ishan Uday scholarship was launched in 2014-15, and was continued to empower thousands of students each year. The scholarship is disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring that the funds reach the beneficiaries directly and efficiently.
