Objective of PMSS scholarship
The main objective of the PM scholarship scheme is to encourage the children and widows of CAPF, Ex-servicemen, AF, and state/UT police personnel or personnel lost their lives during their duty. This scholarship encourages them to pursue higher studies in technical or professional degree courses like engineering, medicine, dentistry, veterinary, pharmacy, BBA, BCA, etc.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the PMSS 2025, applicants must:
- Be the dependent son/daughter or widow of a CAPF, AR, ex-serviceman or ex-coast guard personnel.
- Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in the Minimum Educational Qualification in their 12th, graduation, or diploma.
- Candidates should be admitted in the 1st year of a technical or professional undergraduate course

Selection Criteria
Every candidate will be selected based on their eligibility criteria and they are categorised in the 5 different groups:
- Category 1: Children or widows of Ex-Servicemen or Ex-Coast Guard personnel killed in action.
- Category 2: Children of Ex-Servicemen or Ex-Coast Guard personnel who were disabled in action and boarded out of service with the disability.
- Category 3: Children and widows of Ex-Servicemen or Ex-Coast Guard personnel who died while in service.
- Category 4: Children of Ex-Servicemen or Ex-Coast Guard personnel who were disabled while in service.
- Category 5: Children or widows of Ex-Servicemen or Ex-Coast Guard personnel who have received gallantry awards.
- Category 6: Children or widow of Ex-Servicemen or Ex-Coast Guard personnel (PBOR only) — PBOR stands for Personnel Below Officer Rank.
Application Process
Applications are only accepted in online mode via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). You can follow the simple Step-by-step process to fill your application form:
- First, visit to the official website of national scholarship portal scholarships.gov.in.
- Click on the Students Tab.
- If you are new and haven’t registered yet, then first you have to complete the registration process.
- Click on the Register button.
- Register using the One Time Registration (OTR) process

- Read the guidelines carefully and then scroll down to the bottom of the page and tick the two check box.
- Then click on next.
- Then enter your mobile number and enter the OTP you received into your mobile number.
- Then click on verify.
- After that fill your aadhar details and also verify the details using OTP.
- Once you done this, you will redirected to the page for personal details.
- Enter your name, mother’s and father’s names, email ID and then click on the Finish button.
- After successful registration, you will get your registration number.
PM scholarship scheme login and apply
- Log in into your account using the application number and password.
- Select ‘Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for CAPFs & Assam Rifles’
- Fill out the application form carefully using all valid details.
- Upload all required documents
- After that submit the application form.
Important Notes for Dual Degree Courses
For students in integrated dual degree courses:
- They must clear the first two years of non-professional study without failing or taking breaks.
- Failing in any subject or delay in these two years will lead to disqualification from the scholarship.
