Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search 2025
Jagadish Bose Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship of West Bengal state initiated by the Autonomous registered society under the West Bengal Society Registration Act. This scholarship was initiated in the year 1958, in honor of great Indian scientist Acharya J.C Bose, to support the meritorious students of West Bengal state.
Initially, this scholarship was only available in West Bengal but now it has spread to 12 different states like:

- Arunachal Pradesh
- Meghalaya
- Manipur
- Mizoram
- Nagaland
- Tripura
- Sikkim
- Bihar
- Odisha
- Jharkhand
- Chattisgarh
Students from different states can also apply for this scholarship. The JBNSTS scholarship is funded by both government and Non-Government organizations. Types of JBNSTS scholarship
There are two types of JBNSTS Scholarship:
Junior Talent Scholarship
JBNSTS has started the Junior Talent Scholarship Test (JEST) for West Bengal students who have passed the class 10th examination in West Bengal. Eligible candidates are selected through the JEST exam. This exam is used to select young scientific minds and motivate them towards science and innovation.
Junior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti scholarship (JBKMB) also comes under the Junior Talent Scholarship program. Through this scholarship, young female students who qualified for class 10th are selected. As we know in India the school dropout rates of females are high in villages and financially weaker families. And scholarships like JBKMB make their journey easier to continue their studies propery.
Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti scholarship is supported by the DST, Governmnet of West Bengal.
Senior Talent scholarship
The Senior Talent scholarship program helps students financially from different states. This scholarship Supports undergraduate students in the Basic Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine departments. The main aim of this scholarship is to help and nurture the scientific minds of students so they can meet the nation’s demands.
Senior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti (SBKMB):
This scholarship is offered to the female students of states to encourage them in education. The SBKMB scholarship is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of West Bengal.

jagadish chandra bose scholarship eligibility criteria
- Applicants must be Indian nationals domiciled in West Bengal and the following states:
- Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh.
jBNSTS junior scholarship eligibility
- Candidates must have passed their Class 10 exam just before the scholarship year.
- Candidates must have scored minimum 75% marks or equivalent CGPA in the aggrigate subject.
- Candidates must have enrolled in Class 11 (science stream) in a recognized school/institute in West Bengal or the listed states.
- Candidates must have been choose three subjects among the given list:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- Biology
- Statistics
- Computer Science
jBNSTS Senior scholarship eligibility
- Candidates must have passed their class 12th Exam in the same year of applying scholarship.
- They should have been enrolled in B.Sc(Honors), Medical, Engineering degree courses in any government recognized program.
- Students who completed their qualifying exam before 2024 or are pursuing a B.Sc. Pass course, Diploma course, or B.Sc. Nursing program are not eligible for these scholarships.
jbnsts scholarship amount
Here is the JBNSTS Scholarship amount list given below:
For Both JTST & JBKMB:
- ₹1,250 per month for two years (until completion of Class 12).
For JBKMB Only:
- ₹2,500 per annum as a book grant.
- Exposure to seminars and workshops designed for young scholars.
For Both STST & SBKMB:
- ₹4,000 per month as a scholarship.
- ₹5,000 per annum as a book grant.
- Scholarship duration: 4 to 5 years (till completion of the undergraduate program).
For SBKMB Only:
- Female students pursuing a Master’s degree in Basic Sciences are eligible for a research grant of ₹80,000 per year (₹60,000 + ₹20,000) under DST INSPIRE norms.
Additionally each students will get this benefits: Opportunities for project work, participation in seminars and colloquia, academic / career counseling, as well as travel and enrichment programs will be provided.
Selection process
The selection process for both the Junior and Senior Talent search scholarship is different. Every year selcetion test is organized for both senior and junior talent search program who passed the 10th and 12th exam.
- Candidtes are called for JTST/STST scholarship test exam.
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview round. The final merit will be relesaed based on the performence of the interview.
- Candidtaes must bring all the marksheet and hard copies of the required documents during the interview and verification round.
- There is no Negetive marking in the interview round.
- Scientific Creativity Test will be conducted after the interview round for the STST.
